Letter from the Council President:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 1 Corinthains 13: 4
For my newsletter in February, I want to take a moment to reflect on a gift that binds us together as a community: love.
Love is one of the cornerstones of our faith. In 1 Corinthians 13, the Apostle Paul reminds us that "the greatest of these is love." Love is not just a feeling; it is an action, a commitment, and a reflection of God’s presence in our lives. It is patient and kind, selfless and enduring, and it calls us to look beyond ourselves to serve others.
When we gather as a congregation, we are called to embody God’s love in all we do. Let our voices lift in praise, united by love for God and one another. When we encounter those in need, let our hearts move us to compassion and our hands to action. When misunderstandings or disagreements arise, let us choose love over division, seeking understanding and reconciliation.
At our monthly meeting Pastor Brigette reminded me of a commandment Jesus gave us: “Love one another as I have loved you” This love is not conditional or selective; it is generous, inclusive, and transformative.
I encourage each of us to consider how we can live out love more fully. Perhaps it’s through a kind word to a neighbor, a helping hand to a stranger, or a prayer for someone who has hurt us. Small acts of love have the power to ripple outward, touching lives in ways we may never see.
As we journey together in faith, may our congregation at St Matthew’s be a beacon of love in our community. Let us support one another, pray for one another, and celebrate the ways God’s love is at work among us. Together, we can reflect the light of Christ, sharing His love with the world.
Blessings,
